Web sites

A web site is a critical component of any business. It provides a face to the world: telling potential clients and customers who you are, what you do, and why they need to use you and your products.

This is why it is essential to ensure that a web site is understandable, informative and easy-to-use. It is particularly important for science, technology and medical companies, which need to provide coherent and concise explanations of the research they are conducting and the novel services and technologies they are developing.

Increasingly, I am being asked to write web site content for just these kinds of hi-tech companies. This involves utilising the skills I have developed writing readable articles for New Scientist and Chemistry World to outline research activities, technologies and products in clear, accessible and succinct language.

It is a service I recently provided for the crop protection division of BASF, the world’s leading chemical company, as part of the re-launch of its web site. I visited the division’s headquarters in Germany and spoke with its scientists, then wrote a series of articles highlighting and explaining the extensive research and testing required to develop a new pesticide. These articles appear in the Competences section of the web site.

I have also provided web site content for other companies working in highly technical areas, such as solicitors, that want to communicate with existing and future clients.

Please contact me to discuss possible ways in which I can provide accessible content for your company’s web site. Or, in conjunction with an experienced freelance web developer, I can provide a full web development service, including design, implementation and content writing. I am also experienced at producing promotional materials, especially press releases.
